Microsoft notoriously requires a lengthy process to certify updates and patches to any games on Xbox Live. This may change when Minecraft comes to XBLA in a few months.

Paddy Burns of 4J Studios, the developer behind the console port of Minecraft, stated that they "might be the first to do constant updates," in a style more congruent to PC gaming. While this doesn't mean Microsoft's current certification process will disappear, Burns believes they're "keen to move towards" a future of quicker turnaround.
