EA Announces Battlefield 4

EA has officially announced Battlefield 4, in the shape of an exclusive beta for those who pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition.

“Though Battlefield and Medal of Honor Warfighter each offer players a completely unique experience, they are united by their underlying technology base – Frostbite. These are two of the hottest shooters, coming together to deliver a one-two punch of action, intensity and shooter entertainment,” said Frank Gibeau, President of EA Labels.
Access to the exclusive beta will be available in Autumn 2013, and further details on Battlefield 4 will be revealed at a later date, said EA.

I think it may be too soon for Battlefield 4.

Definitely too soon for a new Battlefield if they are expecting a release in the first half of 2014. A release near the end of 2014 or even early 2015 would make more sense for fans of the series. If EA plans on pushing this Autumn 2013 beta, then I think its safe to assume that all of the expansions announced for the BF3 Premium pack are the only expansions we'll see for BF3. It would also be safe to assume that the design plans for the next game are already underway.

I would have preferred to see DICE going to work on a sequel to BFBC2.

I hope they will eventually make a new bad company, but bring it back to the funny roots that the first game had.
